FINAL WEEK (Feb. 07 - 13 , 2019)

A. When BOREDOM Strikes!

In the duration of my stay at UNSYIAH, sometimes, I feel bored and not motivated to do tasks because nothing is new or could make me more captivated to do. I decided to take a walk within the UNSYIAH campus visiting the library and the laboratory high school to take photos. Ma’am Jiezel walked with me just to visit and feel the UNSYIAH ambiance.

B. CLOSING CEREMONY

A closing ceremony was conducted as the conclusion of the SEAMEO SEA Teacher Project at UNSYIAH by the SEA Teachers. The closing ceremony started with preliminaries like prayer and greetings from the Vice Rector, Labschool and Faculty Mentors, and SEA Teachers. The mentors gave their testimony as well as the SEA Teachers. I gave my overall testimony for all of us SEA Teachers. I divided my testimony into two aspects: the objective and the subjective.

For the subjective testimonial, I used the UNSYIAH abbreviation to share my feelings of thanks and happiness during the SEAMEO SEA Teacher Project. Here is the abbreviation:

  • U - Unending Excitement

  • N - Nostalgic Happiness

  • S - Superb Experiences

  • Y - YOLO Avenue

  • I - Incredible Tour

  • A - Affectionate People

  • H - Harmonious Relationship

For the objective testimonial, I shared about the teachers' professionalism, students' behavior, school's mechanisms, and others of similar nature.

After giving the testimonies, distribution of certificates and giving of Plaque of Appreciation and Partnership was held among the Universitas Syiah Kuala, Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, Iloilo Science and Technology and University, and Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology. Photo opportunities were held also. During that time, I felt so happy and contented of what I've done and attained for the past days as SEA Teacher. It was very fulfilling and hard work was really paid off.

F. MUSEUM TSUNAMI ACEH Escapade

The Aceh Tsunami Museum, located in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, is a museum designed as a symbolic reminder of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami disaster, as well as an educational center and an emergency disaster shelter in case the area is ever hit by a tsunami again. (www.wikipedia.com)

The Aceh Tsunami Museum was designed by Indonesian architect (and now incumbent Governor of West Java) Ridwan Kamil. The museum is a 2,500 m2 four-story structure; its long curving walls covered in geometric reliefs. Inside, visitors enter through a dark, narrow corridor between two high walls of water — meant to recreate the noise and panic of the tsunami itself. The museum walls are adorned with images of people performing the Saman dance, a symbolic gesture dedicated to the strength, discipline and religious beliefs of the Acehnese people.[2] From above, the roof resembles a tsunami. The ground floor is modelled on the kind of traditional raised Acehnese houses that were best equipped to survive the tsunami. (www.wikipedia.com)

The building acknowledges both the victims, whose names are to be inscribed on the wall of one of the museum’s internal chambers, and the surviving members of the local community. (www.wikipedia.com)

In addition to its role as a memorial for those who died, the museum also offers a place of refuge from future such events, including an "escape hill" for visitors to run to in the event of another tsunami. (www.wikipedia.com)
